Posing much like a silver back gorilla would protecting his harem, Guts Man stays standing there for a bit, looking around, to make sure the surviving raiders don't try anything. When he's sure, stands back up straight and picks up Norg; and with a voice that sounds cheery, "Okay, time go!"
Using his old layout maps of the City to navigate towards one of the main bridges, one that was considered the sturdiest. It could still be standing, even now.
As he walked, he dwelled more on the past. On how, when Wily died, he was the only elite to stay behind. He couldn't make himself do anything. The others, without him... some tried, vainly, to continue to keep order and control. Some instantly gained free will without Wily around, and decided to head off for their own thing. He has no idea what became of any of them; and there hadn't been a way to communicate with them since the day the bombs fell...
Norg held onto him tightly; and could feel him shaking against him. Makes sense, after all that had happened to him today. Stopping for a second, and turning his head to see him.
"It be okay, I here to protect." Using his free hand, he put it to his face and once again "drew" what seemed like a smile.
"Why do you do that? Why do you do those motions?" Norg asked him.
He looked at him. "'cause... 'cause have no face. Brothers... many brothers had faces. Could smile. Could frown. I liked that, so I draw them on me in area. Smiles, big happy smiles, frowns, big sad frowns...", motioning for each one.
"What do you do for anger?"
"... I no need to do anything. Eyes glow red."
Going back to his walk, he soon came upon the bridge; and sure enough, it still stood... mostly.
"... it awfully weak. If make it across... I need run. You need cling to underside!"

Well, this is a good time to bring it up!
Whenever the attack can finally happen... you really need to watch your characters. Remember how we said before "You'll have to write your way around us?". It'll really be true for the attack.
It's a chance for several elites to be really badass. Your character is in Nashville during the attack, but you don't write for them? They'll die. Your character meets an elite in Nashville, you better handle the situation really damn well, 'cause we'll probably kill them. And really, the only smart thing would be to "run".
So yeah. Watch and protect your characters, or they won't survive the attack

Cello stuffed his hands in his pockets. "Yeah, sure," he said as Mig turned away and walked off with Ghost, "No problem. See you around. Later... Megan." They turned the corner, disappearing from Cello's view, and he instantly made obscene gestures in Ghost's general direction. He turned away, gritting his teeth, and found himself locking eyes with a stray dog, lying under cover of an awning across the street. "What are you looking at?" he growled at the dog. The dog yawned and went to sleep.

A little while later
Cossack rubbed the bridge of his nose as he began to work on the one arm, beginning to attach the armor to hand and upper arm, soldering wires to the right parts.
"Vhen you are completed, you vill be able to use zis arm and hand for more zen just interactions. Zese two prongs on fingers, da? Integrated tazer into zat hand. Every punch can also be tazer shock, controllable by how much power you put to it."
Crash silently nodded as Cossack kept working; looking over at Kalinka in her chair, he saw her curled up and asleep causing him to smile some. "I told her, she sleepy..." Cossack tried to stifle a yawn but it came none the less.
"And so are you, doctor." Crash noted.
"I know... vhy I vill have to get some sleep before I finish yo--"
To his left the intercom's buzzer went off. Annoyed, Cossack went over to it and pushed the button. "Da, vhat is it?!"
"Well, you told me to notify you when a Mig and any companions of her's show up, doctor."
Kalinka had woken up from her father yelling, and both Cossack and Crash perked up at the news.
"Da, da! Allow her in and tell her vhere to go!" Letting go of the button he begins to run up the steps as his receptionist responds to him, already gone, as he heads for his door on the upper level.
Getting there as soon as the knock is heard, he opens the door and smiles. "Vell vell; Megan, it has been long time, da!"

Norg had no idea what to think; here was this giant metal beast, over twice as tall as the tallest person he ever met, not only not mindlessly destructive as others he had seen and heard of; but also kind, helping him get home. Something like him would be a great way to protect his village as well; their trip wasn't a loss, after all.
And what's more, getting out of the metal ruins, this "city" as he called it, would be easy... though the river.
"There's a river to cross, though. Could you cross it? I don't think I have the energy to swim it again."
The metal beast thought for a bit. "No. Maybe once, but... no idea how well systems are. How closed. All that water could kill me. Maybe... maybe one of bridges good condition to cross."
It turned itself into a direction of where one was, he began to run for it.
---
Guts Man kept running, climbing over large piles of rubble, every so often stopping and looking at what had once been Capital City. Doing diangles over his eyes with his free hand and then a frown, he continued to move on.
He hadn't left the ruins of the Compound since that day Wily died.
Lost... lost self on that day.
In the many, many years since the end of the world, he came to see things as a younger brother once did; that Wily was wrong, destructive to the world and humanity as a whole. However, when he died, whatever "peace" there was... disappeared.
The communities of loyalists appointing themselves as the successor to Wily and fighting one another for the world... the rebels from across the globe fighting against them, and sometimes each other, for a peace as well... and then Wily's "gift" to the world came a year later, when most of the JOE units began to kill whatever they could before the bombs went off a month later.
It was enough to make someone wonder if one of his other brothers had been right about humans all along...
He was knocked out of his thought process when he heard a gun fire, and it's bullet hit his shoulder, just missing Norg's head by a little bit.
Turning around quick and putting Norg on his back. "Hold on, I take care these fools."
The small group of raiders with one gun quickly caught up and soon realized their mistake when they saw the great metal beast in front of them wasn't long dead, but still active.
"You no hurt new friend!" Running up to him on all fours, he bats two of the six across the ruined street and into a wall, killing them. The one with the gun, freaking out and trying to reload Guts Man stomps on; and the other three wise up and just run off and not look back.
The City's waiting for a better day; when I get back, there will be hell to pay.

"Dr.... Cossack?" Mig echoed. "No. I don't know no Dr. Cossack."
Still, if this was about Crash... But what if it wasn't? If she held out this last bit of hope that he was alive, and she went to the lab only to have that tiny glimmer of hope crushed, she didn't know if she could handle it.
But, on the other hand, what else was there for her to do? Go off with this stranger, to... who knows where?
What the hell am I doin'?
"All right," she said, releasing Cello's arm. "Looks like I gotta go, Cello. It'd be nice to meet up with ya some other time. Maybe tomorrow evenin'."
Re: Where were we? « Result #22 Yesterday at 4:38pm »
Yeeeeah... it all came to me a few nights ago, another possible future, combining two ideas I had.
What if Wily died in his sleep, or died suddenly in some other way? He didn't want to die, wanted to live forever, so he never assigned a replacement. All Hell begins to break loose; various loyalist communities around the world rally behind the most power loyalist family within them as they should replace Wily, and begin to fight with each other. The various rebel groups around the globe fight against them as well, and maybe each other. There is no celebrating an evil man's death; just war and war over fighting who gets to rule the world after it.
However, lets just say Wily is a paranoid fuck in his old age as he gets closer to death. Lets just say. So; what if he was dying and death couldn't be avoided? Or dead suddenly? Well; he'd take the whole fucking world with him, is what.
Kinda like how Mega Man 7 opens up; if his various computer systems don't hear from Wily after, say, a year; all his JOE units turn wild and begin to fight and kill everything they see. And about a month after that? Nuclear power plants, nuclear bombs and the like... boom.
Makes the Wastelands look like nothing when damn near the rest of the world becomes just like it
Re: Another Possible Future « Result #24 Yesterday at 3:21pm »
Norg groggily awoke; above him, he saw the blurry images of the two, shining lights again, and the fuzzy words they spoke to him...
"You alright?! You see me, you zonk out, fall and hit head. You need be more careful."
Norg quickly sat up and backed away from the lights in a hurry, just starring at them in fear. He had no idea what to make of them.
"Wh...what.. what are you?!"
The voice from the lights lowered, sounding calmer and smoother. "I am friend, I no hurt you. No worry."
The sound of metal moving against metal could be heard as the lights moved closer to him, and over him.
Norg tensed; that was a similar noise to the metal beasts as they moved. He wasn't sure what to make of it; he didn't see any large, red lights around.
"Wh... what is this. I hear metal beasts, but I don't see their eyes..."
The two white lights turned, so one was at an angle to the other. "Metal beasts? What you mean? You mean... mean robot?"
Norg just looked up at the lights in fear. He had no idea what it, they? meant, so he said nothing.
"Eyes... what color?"
"They're... they're red..."
"... no. No JOEs here. I take care of them long go... any stupid that head in here, I take care of."
Norg just... just nodded his head like he knew what was going on.
"Who you?" the lights asked, one going above the other again at an angle.
Norg just stared at them for a bit before swallowing hard. "I'm... I'm Norg. I come from a village, a tribe just outside these metal ruins. We came to salvage what we could find, but especially weapons... weapons like the banging ones raiders have... they come into here to find them, too, and they're getting too dangerous for us..."
The lights just kinda look down at him; this time, it was their turn to be confused. They just kinda watched him for a bit, and he began to talk as if Norg wasn't there.
"World... world in terrible place now. I sorry it is not easy life for you and family. If things gone better..."
Norg just stayed pressed up against the wall, watching the lights, as they moved around.
"I here for many... many years. I no longer know how many for sure... but I know couple hundred years!" The sound of two large pieces of metal hitting the ceiling over head could be heard in the dark, along with small bits of debris falling down and hitting something else metal. "... sorry."
The sound of metal moving could be heard as the lights wandered around the room. "It give... it give me long, looong time to think to self. Things... no good bad when. Least no good as I thought. He was wrong, we was wrong. We hurt world... so much."
Norg just stayed pressed up against the wall, confused. Thinking about maybe running for the door... but for what? He was as good as dead within these ruins anyways... and he didn't know if such a move would anger these lights or not...
"... but things much better then than now! People... people we fought then... they say beginning of end of world happen when he came to power, or even when he came into world... no. Beginning of end was when he left it."
Norg swallowed hard again. "Ah... you don't say..."
The lights, which were pointed at the ground, looked up at him. "I sorry... I confuse you. ... ... where others? You say you came with others."
Norg looked down, and wiped his eyes. "Dead... my fault. I can't... I can't go on anymore. I can't escape this place, and the things that we were after to save and protect our village... couldn't save them. They'll all die, one way or another." Norg sniffs as the tears kept coming. "I just... I just hope my death comes soon..."
The lights looked at him for a bit. "... no. That not right. You no stay here, await death... you go back and you help."
Norg scoffed. "What's the point?! We can't stop the raiders! I failed to protect and save them; I doomed them, so I just deserve to stay here and die!"
The eyes looked at him for a bit, and were quiet. "That... that sound like why I stay here for so long. ... no. That no way to live. No way to die. When things get hard, you keep fighting for people. People deserve more then what they got."
"Yeah," Norg wiped his face. "Like I can do anything anyways. I can't get out of these ruins alive, and even if I could, I can't use a bow ever again... like such a weapon would do any good against raiders and the like anyways with those banging weapons..."
"... you have me. I... I tried of staying here. I did not try to help back when; I should help now. I can get you out of City alive."
Without so much as another word, Norg found himself lifted from the ground by something metallic and, with the lights, leaving that room and running through the hallway until they were outside of the building; and there, in the moonlight, he saw it wasn't two lights he had been talking with; but a gigantic metal beast.
"I help you get home. I help protect village, help move them safer place. Help... help humans."
Norg, shaking in fear and uncertainty, looking the metal beast over. "Who are you?!"
The metal beast looked at him, and with his free hand he made a smiling lips motion over his face. "I am friend; I am DRN-004, or 'Guts Man'"
Re: Another Possible Future « Result #25 Yesterday at 2:49pm »
He was dead either way, but like Hell he was staying in the same building everyone else died in; it was his fault they were dead and he didn't deserve to die with them.
Using only his good hand, he got to "burying" the dead the best he could with the debris from around the room. He had no idea what time it was; he hadn't learned to tell the time by watching the sky like his uncle had done. However, he was able to tell as good as just about anyone that it was night.
Best time to head out, looking for death...
Leaving through the doorway the metal beast had broken through, his eyes adjusted more to the darkness and he was able to make out the dead bodies of the raidders that had chased them into that ruin. They, like the metal beast, would get no such honor of burial. Their bodies can rot out in the open and attract animals and ferals to them.
Roaming down the street with no real thought to his safety or where he was heading, the graveness of the situation finally began to sink in.
19 dead in just a few hours! And most of them have been my fault! I... I should've never come with. None of us should've came this far, period.
As tears began to form in his eyes, up ahead he saw the ruins of another building; much larger than any other around. It looked like it once towered over everything in these metal ruins, but long ago fell apart.
That is as good a place to head into... to head into and just await death...
Breaking through the old doorway, he enters it; caved in sections of the celing and debris make him stick to a single passage way deeper into it, a wide, long hallway. As he keeps heading in, his keen eyes allowing him to see larger pieces of debris to step over and avoid.
Or at least it would've, if not for the tears.
I am a man! I shouldn't be crying, like a little child! Yes, it's my fault they all died... and I should die... but I should accept it, accept it like a warrior an--
Tripping over a large piece of metal he lost his balance and fell to the ground... right in front of a metal beast.
"Ahhhh ahhhhhhhhh!" standing up in a hurry, he realized there were many around him, all laying there silently, looking at him.
Curling into a ball Norg awaited death; but it never came. Peaking to look at them again, he realized; they were dead, rusted, and had been dead for a long while.
Breathing a sigh of relief he slowly got back up and continued on deeper.
"Why am I happy... if they were alive, they could've killed me faster than anything..."
He came to the end of the hallway; all other doors that branched off from it had collasped, their rooms fallen in and could no longer be accessed; this one, however, could. Heading inside, he saw odd pieces of metal all over the floor. Pieces with little round bits that could be pushed in, pieces with long broken glass over them...
He had no idea what this room was; and he couldn't have long to wonder.
"Who there? Who you?!"
Norg turned around quick to see two large, white shining lights floating in the air over him... and that was the last thing he could remember before passing out.
Re: Another Possible Future « Result #26 Yesterday at 1:08am »
The world... a blur... can't...
As he slowly returned to the waking world, he saw his the metal beast enter the room and use his bang weapon on several of the others, killing them; other survivors tried fighting it, hitting it with the heaviest objects they had on their person and could find. When all was said and done, all of them but one were dead; and the one that was alive... didn't seem like he was going to last long. And before them, the battered metal beast laid before them, great red eye flickering before going out forever.
Norg slowly rose up to his feet and looked around him at the damage that had happened while he was unconscious... so much death. Everyone but one other was gone, and he didn't look like he was going to last long. Ignoring all the pain he was in he went over to the man, and saw it was his uncle.
Cradling his dying uncle the best he could, he asked him "What... what all happened while I was out? What happened with the weapon?!"
Spitting out blood and bleeding badly from the gash in his side, he tried to speak. "It... it exploded. Thought... thought killed you. It killed... killed two men that were around you. The rest... rest tried to fig..." Coughing up more blood for a bit, he just laid there for a bit shivering... before going limp.
I... I failed again. If the weapon worked it could've killed the beast but... but...
Finally enknowledging the pain, looking over at the hand that held the gun... he saw it swollen, purple; he could barely move it, many of the bones in it broken. And... and missing a couple fingers.
Like it mattered. He was in the middle of the metal ruins, nightfall would soon be upon everything. His one hand broken and disfigured so the one skill he did have, using his bow, was destroyed forever.

Norg and the others helped push stuff in front of the doorway to block the raiders from getting in. The constant firing of their weapons, however, made it hard as the shards of metal they shot would go right through the weak door and often the stuff they put in the way; including themselves. That's how they lost another of their men, the one that tried to attack Norg before, and another was injured.
"We're not getting out of here alive," one of them stated. "We're as good as dead."
Norg's uncle turned to him. "You keep talking like that, and it will happen."
"Well, excuse me. We're down to eight out of twenty men, seven of which are currently capable of anything! But against those weapons, the ones we've tried to come for... none of us are capable of anything but dying."
"Shut up!" Norg yelled. "We have to figure out how to get out of here, and away from them. It doesn't matter about supplies or anything now. All the matters is survival and getting back to our village."
The argumentative man muttered, "Big words for a 12 year old."
Norg's uncle turned to him. "He dd the right of age ritual; he's an adult now, and will be treated as one."
"Hey, hey! Shut up all of you and over here!" Another of the men shouted from his position in the back, squatting over something. Running over to him, the rest see what he had found; on the ground, partially buried in soot and debris, was a partially rusted metal tube. Pulling it out, revealed itself to be one of the weapons that the raiders had found.
Norg's uncle's face lit up. "We have one now. Quick, Norg, use it!"
"I don't know how!"
One of the other men, one who had handled them from a killed raider, grabbed it. "Here." Opening it, he removed what he could from where the shards of metal went into; a few of the holes refused to be cleaned, to give up their old ammo. Searching the ground, he found one of the unspent pieces of metal and jammed it into one of the cleaned out holes and shut it. "There, it's ready! When the raiders get through the door, aim and push in this bit of metal!"
Norg grabbed it, and at the same time... loud shouting came from outside, followed by more bangs. Many more than before, and from different directions.
Norg's uncle, low. "Must be other raiders. They found the ones that found us, and got to fighting..."
The bangs soon stopped, and all was quiet for a bit... before very loud pounding came from the other side of the door and debris.
Norg lifted the weapon and pointed it towards the doorway as more banging continued, and broke through; and there they were greeted... with the partially rusted face, and large red eye... of a metal beast.
Norg's eyes went ride, and he quickly pushed in the piece of metal; and the last thing he can remember before blanking out was the loud explosion as the weapon exploded.
Re: Another Possible Future « Result #29 on Dec 26, 2009, 8:06pm »
Half an hour later, the survivors pulled themselves onto the bank of the other side. Across the way they can still see the ferals feasting on the bodies of those they had caught; their friends, family.
"It's all Norg's fault!" said one of the other men, grabbing at his dagger and preparing to stab him in the neck when Norg's uncle tripped him.
"He hit his mark! He was aiming for the neck, and he hit it. It wasn't his fault that it didn't strike something more vital within it. You try to kill him, and I'll kill you here. You want to be added to the list of dead, those that were eaten and drowned?"
The man stared up with him with rage; all the men were on edge after that, and many did blame Norg... however, they never went this deep into the ruins either. This was the first Norg's uncle had even seen the river.
"Come; we have to work together to find what we came for. And we have to be extra careful now; we've lost seven of our twenty men. And from here on out... none of us can even guess what we could stumble upon. Ferals, raiders... the walking metal beasts."
The men got back up and began head into the center part, over rubble. Only Norg's uncle had encountered the metal beasts before, with their large red glowing eyes. Most that encounter them don't survive.
In the center island of the ruins, more buildings still stood; darkness prevailed in this area because of the long shadows the buildings gave off. Something the men didn't care for; being unable to see if anything was sneaking up on them left them at a serious disadvantage.
Sound, however, travels just as well in the dark as it does in the light; and the low sounds of voices and people trying to move silently and failing could be heard to them just up ahead, giving them warning for what as about to come. The loud bangs of their weapons and a few of their number falling dead, bleeding holes in their foreheads and chests, there wasn't nearly enough warning for.
The men scampered for a nearby building and hid within; their numbers now reduced to nine.
Re: Another Possible Future « Result #30 on Dec 26, 2009, 7:20pm »
Norg and the group moved quietly over the large rubble pile and peered over it, to make sure the way was clear. Below them, they saw a young woman; matted hair, covered in dirt and grime... completely naked to the world. Her body was well proportioned, though it was very scarred from who knows how many fights and scuffles from living in this enviroment.
If not for these features, she'd be attractive... well, for that and the fact she currently was tearing off pieces of flesh from what looked like the corpse of a raider.
Norg's uncle motioned to them to stay quiet; while she was only one, ferals were not something to underestimate in a fight. Especially since even when they look alone, they never really are; they too travel in family units. If she saw them, she'd alert the others.
However, she was in their way. They had been traveling through the outer parts of the ruins for an hour now and can see the river that surrounds the center part just up ahead... the feral would have to be dealt with, unless they wanted to waste even more time to try to find some other way through the ruins to this point.
Norg's uncle motioned again; one of them had to try to take her out, but silently. And for that... they turned to Norg.
He was the best archer of the village. It was talked, if they could find working versions of those weapons raiders had, he would be the first one to use them.
He was unsure though; he never killed another human with his archery however. He had just hunted. However, their stares told him he wouldn't get out of it. He had to.
Grabbing his bow, he pulled out one of arrows and began to aim on her... a strike in the neck would do her in fast, and silent... he just would have to hit the right part... spending more time to aim, sweat began to run down his face. Finally, he fired the arrow.
It hit its mark in her neck... however, it miss vital sections. The feral fell over, and began to howl in pain and gargle as blood began to flood her neck.
"Shit! Just run run!" Norg's uncle blurted out as all the men got up and began to run. Just as they passed the dying feral, more began to leave the ruins of buildings around there. With their loud gibberish and howls, they began to chase them.
I damned us. We don't have time to get make-shift rafts going; we're gonna have to swim across... shit, shit.
The men kept running, the slower ones trying to stay a few steps away from the ferals... once they all got to the water and began to swim, however, the slower ones were easily captured by them. None dared turn around to try to help them or even look as they heard their screams, their pleading for help as they were biten and torn to pieces.
